After an overnight stop at Ensenada de Barra, ready for an early start the next morning before the daily northerly breeze picked up, we set sail north for Ria Arousa. There was no wind and the seas were calm so we motored most of the 30NM to the anchorage at the north end of the Ria south of the protected island of Cortegada and the fishing village of Carril. There are plenty of tempting restaurants in the village but a stiff breeze had picked up and we didn't fancy a long dingy ride late at night. Instead in the late afternoon we went to explore Cortegada which turned out to be well worth it. It is one of the islands within the National Park but it is freely accessible including a guide in English. Permission is required to anchor north of the island, but not on the south side where we were.
