Finally out of Marina Taina and on our way again! Back at beautiful Moorea to introduce Andrew to the stingrays and sharks!
Both engines given the all clear yesterday after 4 days of work.
Andrew has been with us since saturday and it's been great to catch up again with all the news from home, although the state and federal political situation update is hardly inspiring.
Richard has continued to monitor/ work with the engineers all week and between us we have all knocked off several boat jobs - cleaned lockers, washed sheets, re-enforced sail wear, new main sheet, end for ended other sheets, serviced winches, scrubbed decks and Andrew has been up the mast for a rigging check by a different pair of eyes!
Andrew and I visited Point Venus (6 miles east of Papeete) - where in 1769, Captain Cook observed the transit of the planet Venus across the sun. There are several monuments on the point and a lighthouse to commemorate the visits of Captains Wallis, Cook and Bligh who anchored their ships in nearby Matavia Bay.
We had a fun evening at the roulottes in Papeete, where local bands were playing, and several meals at restaurants near the marina (none of them outstanding), and like everything else here, very expensive.
Andrew and I ordered  several cases of duty free French and Chilean wines which were delivered and we are looking forward to sampling once we leave French Polynesia. I spent some girl time browsing in Papeete and made several trips to the supermarche for restocking.
We are planning to sail overnight tomorrow for Bora Bora again, where we will spend a couple of nights before we head off for Tonga. Still discussing our route - ?  via Palmerston and or Nuie or both - watch this space. East to south east winds forecast - 25 knots for next five days at least.
