After our initial fishing successes (in spite of having bananas on board
Lindsay!), things have come to a grinding halt. Three more lures down in the
last 24 hours, as well as two heavy duty lines. We did see a billfish
(?marlin) dancing on the lwater after being hooked and before it and we parted company! Last night and this morning, we slowed down and put out three heavy duty lines and
watched and waited for an hour with no joy! No doubt there will be more in
depth discussion today.......
Dry sunny day yesterday which was good for washing, drying the boat out and
for an enjoyable long lunch and a wine or two! 220 miles sailed in the 24
hours to 6am today, also another beautiful day - so marching along well. Now over half way.
Spotted a sail on the horizon yesterday and Richard chatted to Hans from
Austria on a 36 foot monohull who had been at sea for 17 days already - from
somewhere in Mexico, headed for  the Tuomotos, and according to him,
rationing the rice and flour!
Otherwise we have seen no shipping or other boats for the last 5 days.
Quite a few seabirds around us and the ever present flying fish - 10 on the
deck this morning!
The GPS tells us our ETA at Fatu Hiva in the Marquesas is the 5th or 6th May.
