We went through the gap about 10.00am at low slack water and made our way across the lagoon to position 14.32.20S 146.17.54W. It must have taken us an hour and a half. We had help finding a spot to anchor as there are coral heads all over the place and not easy for us to see as the weather was overcast. There were 3 boats in RiRi Promise and a French boat. Unlike the norm where the French anchor in your cockpit it was us anchoring very close to them but they were helpful and put their dingy over a coral head. Promise invited us over for a cup of tea as soon as our anchor was set and came and got us as we had not put our dingy in the water. Ri Ri were also on board Promise and we had a nice chat, just got to know them a little and then had to say goodbye as they were both leaving at 2.00pm to catch the next slack water. We moved our anchor when they left but the sun was too low so we could not see the bottom and we have still ended up rather close to the French boat. Still there is always tomorrow to re-anchor.
Last night was not too bad but as we were close to Manihi Jim was up most of the time. We also had horrid clouds all around us in the morning. But we are anchored, the water is blue, bit cloudy now but was clear earlier and best of all NO ROCKIN!!!
