We finally pulled out of Las Brisas in Panama on 15 April, and then went to the Las Pearlas Islands to clean the bottom of the boat and have a few days in the islands. Las Brisas was good for picking up supplies and getting ready to leave, but the water was awful - dirty, and the growth on the hull was very quick. So we left with Baroness sitting low in the water, full of supplies to last us until New Zealand - well, that's the plan. On arrival in Contradora we foung the anchorage full of Jelly fish. Not to worry, it gave us time to spend there with friends before leaving.

We finally got the boat cleaned and bottom scraped, and left on 23 April. We have made progress with fast flowing and calm seas. We have had good weather. Last night the ocean was so flat, with no wind, that we dropped the sails and sat there for the night. The stars were out, the moon arrived, and we sat still - not even a rocking. We could have been on a quiet and still pond - it was very strange, but nice.
