BARONESS
Jim & Christine Lister
Mon 6 Jun 2011 01:43
Our position at 7.00am local time (16.00utc) was 08.02.17S 135.08.00W COG 240 SOG 5.5k Wind 12k ESE Waves 1.5m.
We have now put the clocks back another hour due to our position. We had a very quiet night or at least it must have been because I knew nothing about it not waking up until 6.30am. Jim had a good night too and had slept.
For a few days now people have been commenting on the SSB net about the crap on their boats. Glen has cabbages growing and a green skirt and John on Beyond has barnacles on his rudder, so Jim had a look down the side of our boat and we have crap nearly to the tow rail on the port side, can't see the starboard side much as we are healed over most of the time but it looked ok. How can this be when we are moving all the time? Looks like Jim is in for another bottom cleaning when we get to a nice anchorage.
This morning we had about 240 miles to go. But we are trying to get further south so at the moment we are being thrown around a bit but that hasn't stoped the fishing and Jim caught a sea bird this morning although we think there was a fish and the bird decided it was for him. Jim had to cut the line, so line and lure lost! Bird flew off apparently unharmed. But 3.00pm he did get another Mahi Mahi the biggest we've got on board, he had to cut the tail off to get it on his table. He had 2 lines out so I was madly getting the other line in and got a bite on that one too but lost it. Still we have the fridge stocked again which is good as Ocean Oasis who has been chasing us for a while now was threatening breakfast with us in the morning and they haven't caught a thing for days and their cook is moaning. So if they do catch us up we have the fish!
One more day to go but Jim thinks this is great and he could just keep going - Christine thinks differently!
