Arrived Papeete in Tahiti on 24 July and anchored at 17.34.83S, 149.37.12W. The "gang" were already there, Mambo, Bondi Tram and Northern Rose as well as Discovery and a few others that we knew. Glen was out of hospital having passed his gall stones! He looked really well and greeted us by taking Jim ashore for "essential" supplies, being Sunday the shops were only open in the morning. Pat and Glen came aboard for drinks and Glen jumped into his dingy, and lept out very quickly swearing profusely and bleeding all over our deck. He'd trodden on some glass. I poked and prodded around in the cut but it all seemed clear. Plastered him up having managed to stop the bleeding with our old faithful friend Mr Bump the cold gel pack.

The pull chord on the outboard broke, we repaired it but had not put the thing back together quite right and managed to mash up the teeth of the starter! We now have to use the emergency pull chord which requires dismantling the engine cover each time and me avoiding being whipped as Jim pulls the chord. Did manage to get a new propeller but no new cassette for the starter.

It was nice to have shops again and I did manage to buy some pearls. Pat bought material for sarongs and I offered to hem them. Ended up having to hand sew them as Suzie the Singer sewing machine decided not to play at all, tension seems to be caput!

Left Papeete in the evening with Northern Rose and Mambo, Mambo had engine problems just as they were leaving and Northern Rose returned to see if they could help. We carried on but then had autohelm probelms and ended up helming all the way overnight to Moorea, seas were rough so we moter sailed most of the way to make helming easier.
