BARONESS
Jim & Christine Lister
Fri 20 May 2011 16:40
Our position at 8.00am was 04.03.51S 99.41.86W COG 260 SOG 5k wind 7k East waves 1.5m. We had a same as usual day yesterday so nothing to report. Overnight the wind dropped and the sails banged and crashed and we rolled from side to side. At 3.00am Jim put the engine on and dropped the sails. We motered until 9.30am as there was still 5k wind if you were lucky. The wind did get up to 8k and I tried the genoa but it flapped, backed and went limp so I pulled it in again. Wind picked up again and was of the beam by 10.00am so sail up andd motor off again but it is a cloudy day and the wind is all over the place and anywhere between 4k and 12k so we are back to banging sail and being jerked around. The sky looks clearer ahead so perhaps things will settle and we will probably try poling out the genoa.
