BARONESS
Jim & Christine Lister
Wed 18 May 2011 21:43
Our position at 8.00am was 02.28.60S 96.10.29W COG 255 SOG 5.5k Wind 11k SE seas 2-3m. Jim was just thinking of bringing in the fishing line and was just finishing washing up when the reel screamed out and a few minutes later he landed a Dorado, or Mahi mahi. It was 30" long as it just fit on the fish table so not too big for us. Dinner was already in the oven so its fish pie tonight.
Last night was quiet accept for the boom banging at times due to the rolling and lack of much wind, down to 8k at times. Today has been much the same as previous days averaging 5-6k but the wind now seems to coming round to the stern which is giving the sails problems, we don't want to change course yet as its a bit too soon, we need about another 2 days on current course and then we will have to go into down wind sailing and get the pole out.
Haven't seen anything of interest but at some stage we have acquired a stow-away, Jim spotted him in the dingy this morning, he's a rather sick looking seagull. Jim has tried to evict him but he just hunker's down and Jim hasn't the heart to try and flip him out with an oar. Guess he will just have to peck it and then Jim will have to do a "burial at sea".
Its been a nice sunny day and the sea has been an inviting blue but it is now clouding over and we shall put 2 reefs in tonight just in case.
