We left Jolly Harbour at 6am (well Mike did, some of us were still checking
our eye lids for holes), bound for St Martin. The ride was not a
particularly pleasant one with confused seas, occasional strong squalls, (including one
of 44 knots) which kept us busy with reefing and trimming. We did 86 miles in 11 hours
and arrived with 25 minutes up our sleeves to catch the bridge going up at
the lagoon in St Martin at 1730. While wandering about the superyachts waiting to go into
the harbour we found Checkmate. This kiwi boat was one that was
tied up at the same time as us in Las Palmas, and left before us to cross
the Atlantic. We have had a catch up with Tony this morning.

As we went through the open bridge we went past the yacht club bar, where they were having Friday night
happy hour and I distinctly heard Michaels name being shouted. Turned out
to be Richard and Sam from D'Accord, whom we had come here to meet. We anchored in the lagoon, on the
Dutch side, and Richard and Sam were aboard before the engine was off. They
have had a truly horrible time with everything going wrong with their
beautiful new Jeanneau 49, and have been stuck here for 6 weeks going stir
crazy trying to get action out of the folks at Jeanneau!

We met Richard and Sam in Cephalonia in Greece when they were working on a
charter catamaran. They have since bought their own boat and are
endeavoring to get her home! We had a wonderful evening catching up,
sometimes all talking at once in our efforts to communicate! The boys went
ashore to find takeout pizza and we had a relatively early night.

Today we will check in, Michael will visit to the boys toy shop (Budget marine superstore) and give our
credit card another fright, and we will also find a laundry before we all
run out of clothes! We will leave here by Monday to rendezvous with the
Farinaccis in the BVIs on Tuesday. Can't wait!
