This morning we woke up at Union Island.  A very cute little island, about 4 miles by 2 miles (we are on miles in these parts due to the proximity to the States).  We went around to Clifton Bay, the main town and checked in at the airport which is located about 100 metres from where you anchor the boat.  Little planes were landing close to the stern.  Grenada had the same arrangement at Prickly Bay.

There were lots of reefs to wind around to get into Clifton, and we were pleased that we had elected to head for Frigate island the night before with no tricky bits to find before anchoring in the pitch dark!

Checking in was very relaxed, as are the locals.  The flashiest building is the bank where they dont take ASB cash flow cards!  Fortunately they change American Dollars, a few of which we happened to have.  We checked in then walked around town (took at least 10 minutes) and then had lunch at a little place on the water where we left the dingy.  Eating out to date in the Caribbean has been "ok" but expensive for what you get.  We are eating on the boat 90% time.

The locals are friendly and the island reminded us of Rarotonga, and these out-lying ones are very similar to Fiji.  It has the pleasant laid back feel.  Not a lot of cars and they aren't screaming down the road at break neck speed like the previous Caribbean islands.  I really liked Union.  Anyway we pulled up the anchor again and headed for Tobago Cays, a cluster of islands with reefs and snorkelling.  Got here late afternoon and took the kids out snorkelling for a couple of hours.  Met some nice english folks on the beach and took a photo for them of them having rum punch at sunset and had a nice reward of a glass myself.  Life is not tough!   They had come across in the ARC.

We will stay here tomorrow and then head north.  In two minds about Bequia, it is a maybe, and have resolved to give St Vincent a miss.  We may give St Lucia a miss too and move straight onto Martinque, where are you Matthias?!

Kids are happy, the weather is perfect,  Mike is cooking dinner and I am drinking Ouzo.
