Said good bye to all our friends at Prickly Bay this morning
Bill and Katarina on Escape Velocity
Jeff and Susan on Raggy Chap
Joe and Jeanie on Madrigal
plus Tess, Bauvier, and others. hope to see some of these guys in NZ before
too many years pass.
We moved up from Grenada to Union Island - and sailed 54 miles against the
rum line of 45 miles - all hard on the wind against the current. Lots of
bumps and banging around with the occasional wave over the deck. should
have tacked in behind the islands earlier as the current took us a long way
down from our waypoint. Got into a nice anchorage in behind Frigate Island
on the south coast about a mile west of Clifton about an hour after sunset.
Very dark. The wind is still blowing hard from the ENE but we are in flat
water and the holding appears to be good. Seem to be about 6 other boats in
here. Didn't fancy winding our way through the reefs into the main harbour
at Clifton - will do that in daylight tomorrow.
This being a new country we have to go through all the immigration and
customs formalities again - but there are a few islands in this group that
we want to see so will spend the half day involved in the process and see
the town at the same time.

Sorry to say farewell to Grenada - seems like a very nice and relaxed place
to spend time. all the boats we met that had traveled down the chain felt
that it was one of the easiest places to sit and relax - which is exactly
what we did. Took a trip into Georgetown to see what was there the other
day - went to the market and wandered around for an hour or two before
heading back - with grocery shopping on the way.
Last night was guitar night on Escape Velocity - the Raggy Chap himself
being an accomplished strummer we were well entertained and educated on the
legendary Jimmy Buffet. Good fun, and motivates us to play our guitar more
often.
