I spoke to Hamish on the Satellite phone today.

He advised that they were approaching the Cook Islands after days of motoring currently making 6.5 knots on 215degT.

Expected landfall in Raro was 0300 NZST – about 12 hours after we spoke.

The wind had only just come up – and unfortunately right on the nose so he expected slow progress for the last 70 miles to the waypoint.  Hamish hopes to sort out the issues with the computer so that they can communicate better and get some regular weather downloads on the last leg.

Otherwise all well on board.  Given the current weather in NZ I am really glad they are not just off our coast today! (70+ knot winds and over 250mm of rain in Northland today.)

Cheers

Michael
