Although Mc Duff's restaurant is still closed for renovations, Norman's Cay is still a fun visit for several days. The first day we went snorkeling, the second day we fished from the dinghy in the ocean. Remember the westerly winds we always dread? Well the winds are from the WNW this entire week, but with very light winds the ocean side is calm enough to play. We are anchored in a cozy, protected anchorage. We met some new folks in our tiny anchorage of 10 and visited some friends from Georgetown also.
Our fishing trip was a success, catching another two Mahi in 30 minutes. The count is now at 12 Mahi. The all time high was 32! That year we ate Mahi everyday. We traded some for lobster. We gave some away. We bartered some for restaurant meals. We were Mahi Rich! In 2001, the first year in the Bahamas, we caught only one Mahi. We were at Powell Cay in Abaco and fishing from the dinghy. First Valt got a hit, then moments later I did too. Turns out the fish got Valt's bait, then swam up for mine. We'd caught the same fish!
