After what seemed like an eternity in Torrevieja waiting for parts (they sent the wrong ones first) we set off at midday heading for Formentera.  The wind at the start was northeasterly and also quite light and we started to motorsail.  Several hours into the crossing it went round more to the east – just what we didn’t want.  The sea had quite a swell and so it was difficult to make a good headway and it was rather like being in the middle of the M25 with ships appearing from all directions.  The weather deteriorated and we could see lightning ahead and several very large squalls on the radar.  Fortunately they didn’t quite get to us and eventually we made it to Formentera anchoring in Cala Saona at 10:53 – a crossing time of 22.5hrs. We are now east of the Greenwich meridian.
