Ahoy there!
Hello from aboard Yellowdrama. What a humid afternoon and
morning it has been. Not quite languishing in the doldrums, but wind has
nonetheless dissipated to the extent that we are lolling along at 5 or so
knots.
Hard to believe that it has been only 5 days since we left
Boston embalmed in three layers of kit. It is bare feet, t-shirts and shorts all
round this afternoon, Wed. 16th September. The water is so warm that even
the flying fish are leaping out of the deep for some respite on our
deck.
Speaking of things fishy, both Yellowdrama's rod and Andrew's
10,000 lb line were employed today and both struck into a shoal of Dorado
at the same time. Two bites! Line screamed off the rod and far behind the boat,
a brace of dorado was seen to breach the water. Quick as a flash, Daniel the
Dorado was hauled aboard by Mark, bopped on the head, filited and his
remains dispatched to Davy Jones locker before you could say.. 'Where's the
tartare sauce?'
Unfortunately, Andrew's fishy, (uninspired by his
imminent fate), bailed just as he was about to be taken aboard. (You're
thinking....'Ah yes, the one that got away')
The engine is on again this evening. Steve Cortelyou is
preparing Clarissa's sumptious fish pie supper and we are braced for a long
night as the ominous grey anvil clouds on our stern finally catch up with
Yellowdrama and do their worst. Looks like a night for foul
weather gear.
621 miles covered.
