Arrival in Gran Canaria
The amazing crew of Yellowdrama IV consisting of
our skipper 'the magnificent Blake' & his lovely wife Clarissa - our hostess
with the mostest!, Pieter our reclining Dutchman, the mast monkey, Matt
- the sweet & sour devil, Robert - our American Ambassador & Lucy -
the plumbing expert have all arrived safely in Las Palmas ,Gran Canaria after
a four day sail from Portimao in Portugal.
Our passage to Gran Canaria started with a
bang, as we experienced gusts of up to 40 knots of wind. Sea sickness hit some
of the crew & in fact curtains, bathmats & toiletries bag suffered as a
consequence!!!!
After a few running repairs, the wind calmed down,
every-one found their sea legs & life at sea settled into a smooth rhythm.
Delicious suppers of spag bol & sweet & sour pork were demolished by
all....
The wind failed towards the end of the trip &
we had to resort to engine power to take us into Las Palmas.
Work has started in ernest to prepare the boat for
its voyage to St Maarten, Caribbean & only final adjustments remain. We are
now proud owners of a new spinnaker snuffer which has been installed &
tested. Will be great to it check out at sea on our journey south.
As all readers would expect - the crew have enjoyed
life ashore with a fantastic Chinese dinner & just a few beverages!! Time
for a few more sneaky beers before another quiet night out in Las
Palmas.
