After a breezy and fairly rough start to our
trip out of Boston, It has been a very slow day today. The wind dropped
and Backed to the North overnight allowing us to ease sheets and sail a better
course Southeast. The wind has dropped to 10 knots.. Motored for an
hour then the spinnaker went up after breakfast and came down just before
dinner.
There was a Northern Right Whale sighting early
this morning, we are passing right through their migration
grounds. There are reported to be less than 350 left in the world - so
good to see one!
Apart from that, there is only lots of sea fog
out here! A trawler less than three quarters of a mile away called us up
on the radio for identification, we could see each other on radar...
We never sighted him!! We hope to see the sky tommorrow!
Wind will remain light for the next day and
slowly move to the West which is good for us. There is still a very large
and dissorganised swell out here though. Will be good to get off the US
continental shelf into deep water.
