A quiet couple of days. Dominated entirely by motoring in calm
weather until 0700 this morning, when we were eventually able to turn off the
engine. Today has been a mixed day of sailing in bright sunshine,
spinnaker runs at nearly 10 knots, heavy rainsqualls and now motoring again in
light winds in great heat. The barometric pressure is at last dropping,
but we seem to be stuck under the Azores high pressure system again.
Our plan, which worked this morning, was to motor North to get into some
wind. Beginning to wonder where the breeze will fill in from.
Morale (nearly said morals) is high and we are eating very well.
White wine is running a little low and the fishing has yielded nothing at
all. In fact the fishing reel has collapsed and the skipper has spent much
of this afternoon trying to effect a variety of (so far failed) attempts to
stick it back together.
If we dont have any luck with it, then we’ll be on the fray bentos in a
couple of days – yummee!
Yoghurt delicious, not yet attempted cake or bread. Maybe
tomorrow....
