Day 7
Purple Turtle was typical Caribbean...a beach side
shack 4 meters from the shore...the dingy trip in was wet and windy
everyone was soaked. We were served by a laconic Fat Mama "Dish of the day"
.. Pumpkin soup - Delcious.. followed by stewed Tuna with sweet potatoes and
rice...alltogether a hearty meal. Alan played safe and ordered Fried Chicken
!
We woke in the morning to strong winds and rain!...
So we had a leisurely breakfast and ventured out at 11.30am.....with the thought
that if it was rough past the headland we could always turn back..
In the event the sail was fanstastic - lively and
windy but we regularily exceeded 10 knots!
We were very fast all the way to Guadalalope where
we anchored off Pigeon Island half way up the west coast...again it was very
gusty off the mountains. Ted prepared an excellent Chilli - and we were tucked
in early ... just after watching our French neighbour slip his anchor and drift
out to sea!
