Day 5
Swam to the shore and witnessed shipwrecks! Lava
flows across the coastal plain were imressive and clearly dramatic 10
years ago. Rolly night at St Pierre. Anchorage was somewhat insecure - but dawn
came with showers and mountain gusts - stayed only for a spanish omelettte
breakfast a la Paul. Saw Seine purse net fisherman.. then "Up
Anchor"
First 2 hours of sail fast with flat waters and
sunny 10kts +... but once out of the shelter of the island the wind blew up hard
and squalls raced down on Matchmaker.. we were soon in 35 knots and driving rsin
and spray everywhere! - Over the sprayhood - round the sprayhood and through the
sprayhood!
Sun broke through as we approached Dominica (
Domaneeeka ).. and the beautifull rainforests were a verdant and glistening
green.
At Portsmouth we were met by Edison and Reney...
Reney "sold us" some limes - bananas and a flag ( for 40 EC$ )... and Edison
promised to take us up Indian River in the Morning... ( See next installment!
)
Tonight is a chicken Curry - Pauls
speciality,,,
Lovely settled anchorage
