Check in went very smoothly. A posse arrived by boat. They were very
friendly and helpful. Did not want money, beer or cigarettes. A few forms to
fill in of course and then they were gone. Port Blair, take note.
Most of the boats here we have met in Galle plus a couple of others.
Apparently locals organised a beach barbecue the night before we arrived and
everybody had a great time. Hope they do it again soon! So a quick round of
hellos and passage news and it was time to get on with the engine.
With a little trepidation I stripped and removed the heat exchanger from the
engine. What a relief! It was thoroughly blocked with calcification and what
looked like sand. Patiently cleaning the fine tubes took a couple of hours.
Then fitting it all back together again. Start the engine -no leaks. Lots
more water out of the exhaust and much cooler running. Sucess!
You may gather from the descriptiion that we are relieved and you would be
right. Still not been ashore (I have an autopilot to look at on another
boat) and it rained first thing this morning but today we hope for a little
more relaxation.
