After the Corinth Canal we spent 3 days in Itea, which is 40 miles further west and in the Gulf of Corinth. This allowed us to take in our first cultural experience of the season. A trip to Delphi, the sanctuary to Apollo, was organised by one of the group. It certainly was impressive, with the artefacts found there going back to the 6th and 7th century BC. They certainly know a thing or two then about architecture, a lot of which was lost when the Romans came.
A lovely lunch followed in the afternoon with the obligatory wine. Needless to say all were asleep on the bus coming back.

Derek is leaving today to bus to Athens then fly to Gatwick and on up to Inverness. We'll miss him as having an extra bod to run around at berthing etc makes a difference.
