Monday (Korfos to Galaxidhi): An early start as we had to transit the Corinth canal in good time to make our destination, Galaxidhi. The canal is a little over 3.5 miles long, 70 metres high in places and mile for mile is the most expensive in the world. It cost us EUR213 but it was well worth it. The wind was fluky so we mostly motor sailed across the Gulf of Corinth, enjoying one of Gilly's famous 'on the hoof' lunches on the way. One of the highlights was a pod of dolphins, one of which swam under the bow, showing off to us as we clicked away like the paparazzi chasing Victoria Beckham down Orford High Street.

We arrived at Galaxidhi after a 65 mile hop and were greeted by a very dubious old boy portraying himself as the harbourmaster (and Graham's new best mate ever). He burbled advice on how we should moor, cocked up our lines, irritated the life out of Graham and then had the audacity to relieve us of EUR10 for his efforts. Sometime later a lady arrived asking for harbour dues and at that point we realised that we had been scammed by a cunning old fox who, as it later transpired, was well known to the local Police. Graham muttered several expletives and embarked on a 'seek and destroy' mission which proved successful the next morning when the old boy appeared tanked up on ouzo, which he presumably bought with our EUR10. After threatening to remove his undercarriage, Graham eventually saw the funny side of it and now the old boy is a legend aboard Gilly B.

The highlight of this leg was the amazing Corinth canal as the photos below show.
