Greetings All, Having sailed 2849nm in total,
we are now in our winter berth at Sant Carles Marina on the Elbro Delta.
The marina (Brand new MDL development) is fantastic and on the face of it "bomb
proof" - just as well as it does blow hard here. There is free wi-fi and a
swimming pool and helpful staff. We are alongside a new pontoon which
makes a change from lazy lines. All in all it would be very tempting to
take our a 4 year berthing option - currently available for £10000!
We arrived in the early hours of Monday morning
having had a very lumpy, bumpy and at times exhilarating 18 hour sail from
Mallorca - about 120 miles. Duncan and Mel left us on Wednesday and so it
was great to have Duncan help me remove the sails etc. The yacht is now
looking a bit bare outside - its getting a bit cluttered below - and
today I have been doing the messy jobs, changing the engine oil, winterising the
engine and getting rid of the petrol in the generator and the outboard.
The next few days will see us cleaning, cleaning and cleaning and eating some
strange food combinations.
We have booked our flight home and will arrive at
Stanstead on Sat 3 Oct. It is amazing how time has flown and it will be 5
months almost to the day that we left Ipswich. We are already looking
forward to next year.
Bye for Now
