It's a little over a year since the intrepid trio of Bill (me), James and Doc helped Graham to deliver the good ship Gilly B from San Carles in Spain to Corfu. Now they're back for the next instalment with one substitution. Catherine (my wife) has replaced Doc in what is believed to be a tactical move on the part of the skipper to make sure that I behave myself on this trip.

After a very pleasant flight (courtesy of Squeezy Jet) the intrepid trio arrived at Athens airport. Fortunately Catherine had been instructed to travel light so we only needed to summon 3 Sherpa's to carry her luggage instead of the usual 6. Despite the reduction in baggage, the poor taxi driver could not fit it all in and had to tie the boot lid down with some rope. The ride to Zea Marina was a white knuckle ride but we arrived to a very warm welcome from Graham and Gillian. After unloading the 6 bottles of gin that we purchased in the duty free (strictly for medicinal purposes) we enjoyed a splendid meal washed down with numerous SAD's (safe arrival drinks).

We awoke bright and early on Saturday and spent the day exploring the famous Acropolis. James couldn't quite fathom why it had taken the Greeks over 2,000 years to move a pile of rubble but we were to learn later that they have a natural tendency not to rush such things. We enjoyed a fantastic lunch in a traditional Greek taverna (Zorbas) and then set about getting totally lost on the public transport system.

The pictures all show parts of the Acropolis which is well worth a visit if you are ever in Athens.
