Finally Kate has departed and the weather window opened. We are going to take advantage of the favorable winds out there and decided to leave early tonight  to cross the starting line at the Chesapeake Bridge-Tunnel at 00:00 hours; it is about 20 miles away from where we are now at the dock in Portsmouth. We plan to leave here around 20:00 hours to make the Bridge in time and hope to have a smooth downwind sail all the way south  to the vicinity of Cape Fear where we will head east to cross the Gulf Stream at day break. This is the plan anyway….
