Tucked in at Hampton Public Marina

37:01.441N 76:20.484W October 26 Friday 21:00 We raced down 10 ft swells all night long with shortened
sail faster than we really wanted to go. Finally took the main down and just
left up a scrap of a jib to delay arriving at the busy shipping lanes of the
Chesapeake Bay in the middle of the night. I took over the watch at 05:00 hour
and put up the Jib running in front of an East wind. After Day break we put up
the Main and went in the Bay and made our way to the “ Hampton Public Marina”
and comfortably docked in front of the Dock master's office. This is going to be
our home until November 4th when the Rally starts. Hampton is a small
town made for Yachties with as many marinas as there are streets. I guess we
will be doing a lot of reading and surfing the net in the next nine days.Everybody here is anxiously
expecting the arrival of “Sandy” just as folks in New York and New Jersey are
bracing for the “Frankenstorm” that Sandy is expected to morph into. I think we
will be quite safe here in Traveling Light. We hope that those of you in the
path of the “Frankenstorm” will fare as well as we will…I have attached the
promised first day pictures of the trip down the East River. Now that we have
high speed internet connection, courtesy of the marina, I can afford to send a
few pictures along..
