No Fish only "Mad Fish"

23:55.719N 64:39.778W Monday May 6, 2013 11:00 pm No Fish only “Mad Fish”, Lonely Ocean and light airs As expected all we caught was sea weed of the Horse Latitudes, but “Mad Fish”( name of a boat in the rally) hung around most of the day yesterday and then we lost her; I think she was left behind. Yesterday afternoon we sailed with the spinnaker flying until the wind died down later in the evening. We are getting quite good at getting the spinnaker flying and taking it down. Some more motoring after that. Pleasant ride with a mostly flat sea. Same today; the swells are little more heavy, the kind that does not agree with David’s stomach. We seem to have a knack to always finding the loneliest patch of the ocean. We saw only two boats today both quite far. Tonight the wind picked up a little and we are cruising comfortably although getting a little off course; we may have to jibe later. We finally got the positions report and by our calculation we are in the first four that are the furthest North. Another 500 miles to go… |
