The Departure was moved up a day ahead of schedule because of a looming coastal storm. We are going to leave today around noon time. All systems are working and we are as ready as anybody could be. David joined us last night and we have a full complement of crew. The same could not be said about some of the other boats which were scrambling to replace the no-show crews; a lot of them could not come because of Sandy inflicted disruptions of travel plans. I have taken a picture of Traveling Light with the Skipper on deck waving across the river. She is all dressed up and ready to go…Each boat received transponders to broadcast boat position every six hours during the race. You can follow the progress at the web site  “ http://www.worldcruising.com/carib1500/viewer.aspx “. Do not get too concerned if there is an occasional missed broadcast of position since these things apparently are susceptible to interference from other electronics on board. We have sized up the competition and they certainly have done the same. We will see how it all shakes out. Off to the races…
