It looks like we have to keep to this “early start” schedule for another day. We left Barnegat Bay little after dawn and headed into the ocean swells coming from the south-east which made the better part of the day quite a bumpy ride. “Meclizine” seems to be doing its job for the crew. We motored most of the day again for want of adequate wind. Although we had the sails up they did not help all that much. Under different circumstances we might have been a bit more patient and stick with the sails alone but we feel some sense of urgency to get to where we are going because of disturbing weather reports. Some of you might have heard that the Tropical Storm “Sandy”churning down in the Caribbean  has been upgraded to a Hurricane and is headed towards the Bahamas at a 20 knot clip; It looks like we might be possibly touched by her body but definitely will be in her shadow by Saturday or Sunday if we are still out there heading towards her. We can do without her acquaintance! …So motoring most of the way we made it to Cape May around 17:00 hour, fueled up Traveling Light and filled our stomachs at the “Lobster House” and now are anchored across from a Coast Guard Cutter ready to go to bed. We have to have an early start to escape “Sandy” and her shadow…
