Day 9 and our position, as at 18:40 on the 29th, is which now, apparently, puts us approx.. 25th position in Fleet and maybe 3rd in Class for now, so, just maybe, our long term plans are working out OK?...

Some of it, of course, does depend upon whether other yachts, like Marta and Dora, have been doing any motoring?

Does anybody know?

Yesterday was a bad, wet and windy day, with nobody really enjoying it, except, of course, for Sulana, herself. She really went for it and was sailing really wel!

All our grand plans went down the pan this afternoon, when the midday GRIB files came in. There is now in front of us, yet another, previously unforecast depression building which appears as if it will give us more headwinds for the foreseeable future.
Sue is NOT impressed!

Our revised plan is now to sail a bit South from where we are, but to look for the slightly lighter winds ahead of us (7-15 knots) and then to stick around the latitudes of 18-20 degrees North, in order not to fall into the trap of too little wind. We may have to do some tacking during the night, or in the early hours of tomorrow.

Meanwhile Ben's unending cheeriness and string of fancy smoothies for our cocktail hour, is keeping all our morale high. Tonight we had "Windward Bashers", with a pineapple and passion fruit base, but no alcohol in these conditions!

Since the repair of the blender, Ben's previous extravagant cocktail smoothy titles have included:

Dirty Banana, French Maid, Pacific Poulet and Mullered Mango!

Well, at least we have finally had suitable weather for Sue and Alan to make full use of their lovely customised launching party presents, of a pair of insulated, travel Coffee Mugs. Many thanks to the other Alan and Sue from West Mersea for those!
