BMW Round Ireland Race starts 21st June.
Tim Wright and I are trying to get Star Dancer to Wicklow for the race. We
set out two weeks ago and turned back just before Lands End with a NE Gale
forecast and parked up at Falmouth Town Quay for a couple of weeks. Lucky
we did - it blew hard from the north for the next 3 days.
Next attempt will be this coming Friday 13th June (fingers are crossed!) .
It looks like another north wind for the weekend but hopefully with some
west in it and not too strong.
We hope to keep this webdairy going but current positions are available at
http://www.roundirelandyachtrace.ie/. We will have a tracking unit on the
boat. With ICAP Leopard racing we will not be at the front of the fleet
(ICAP broke the Fastnet record last year and has just broken the
Trans-Atlantic a couple of weeks ago!
Will be in the Double Handed Class and also Class 3. Ruffian - Sigma 36 -
will be racing with Pete and Emma - we had a great race with them in Class 3
on the AZAB last year.
Preparations are a bit hectic - the navigation/passage planning outside all
the rocks of Ireland is a challenge.
