Southwest Harbour to Mistake Harbour

Away at last in good weather. After breakfast in town with the Treanors we departed their pontoon at 10.00 and sailed due east to this beautiful natural harbour, one of their favourites, in 10 knots of cold SW wind.

On Wednesday 8th Shelduck was lifted at Hinkley and we found that they had omitted to antifoul her as instructed. They also advised that she spend the night ashore so we booked into the Café Drydock. We spent the remainder of the week wining and dining with the Treanors. On Sunday evening they were joined on Shelduck by two Australians, Anthony and Heather. He was waiting for crew from Australia to sail to Europe via Greenland and Iceland while she planned to return home to Australia.

On Friday 10th I settled my account with Hinkleys and over the weekend Anne and I toured around the area in our beautiful Jeep. On Monday Shelduck moved from the marina to Treanor’s pontoon and then we did more provisioning at the excellent supermarket in Bar Harbour. On Tuesday John kindly collected us from the nearby Handcock County Airport where we returned the car.

Thank you so much Mary and John for inviting us to Maine and helping us so much.
