Yesterday we left Mindelo. A relaxed start after topping up on fresh veg & last showers ashore. We slipped around 10.30 & headed north with new crew Phoebe & Marga. I thought we would clear the channel between the island in one tack but it took a few more. The wind & current making our taking angle a bit smaller than normal.
Anyway, we are now 85nm from land and sailing almost north. This is the plan for the next few days. Some of the grib forecasts were showing a change in the wind around Tuesday which should allow us to tack over towards the Canaries. If not it looks like we could sail direct to the Azores! We will see what the weather brings. The thing about going direct to the Azores is that we could hit rough weather further up.
