We arrived in the northern entrance to the Fakarava atol. Our first encounter with low lying islands & fast flowing water in the entrances. A very relaxed undeveloped place. We did a couple of dives in the Northern entrance with a dive operator and experienced the some great sea life. A really large Napoleon Rass and the much talked about sharks. Most were black tip but a few grey.

We moved to the south pass over a few days and found the southern pass dive. This was so much better. We did one dive with the dive operator to get the layout and there were over 100 sharks from start to end. There much be youtube videos from others. Incredible. Even around the dingy dock there were sharks around our ankles. Very tame. We became so used to them that I was cleaning the bottom of the boat with sharks swimming around me.

Our next port was Tahiti. Tahiti was busy after the remote islands we'd got used to. We spent 3 days in Taina Marina so had a chance to wash the boat & charge the batteries. It was also a chance to fix the watermaker which had failed on route to Tahiti. Whilst waiting for the spares for the watermaker we did a whistle stop tour of the nearby islands; Moorea, Huahine, Raitea, Tahaa & Bora Bora. We dived in Bora Bora but it was not up to our previous dives.

On Moorea we hiked up to a local view point & found a snorkeling point where the sharks & rays were used to being fed. This meant that when we pulled up with dingy they came up to us. Getting in the water from the dingy with 7 sharks was interested but luckily turned out to be a pretty cool experience.

Now we are on route to Tonga. We started of with a forecast of 24knts but had 35 last night. We also had big seas. Currently we have 20knt & 5-6mtr seas. Great to watch the sea, a bit like watching a log fire!
