A mixed bag since
yesterday. Firstly some very quiet gentle motoring and motorsailing throughout
the rest of yesterday and half of the night. Then more upwind sailing (not quite
on the nose this time) but now into 20-25kts. The adverse current that we had as
gone too, so we're able to claim all the sea miles we sail - we're not being
robbed anymore which is nice! When we got the wind last night we had a look at
whether to make a go for saturday, but that needed us to average over 9kts which
wasn't really feasible with the wind infront of the beam, so we've shortened
sail to just the #3 and making our way towards sydney at about 5-6kts. The sea
has picked up again so we had a pretty bumpy second half of the night, but that
is calming as we get closer to land.
We're currently 75
miles away from the entrance to the harbour, so will get there sometime during
the middle of the night. Plan is to do a few tacks up and down to time our
entrance through the heads shortly after
sunrise.
