Arrival in Fiji!
After a pretty wet, cloudy and windy passage we were all pleased to arrive in
Savusayu in fiji. This place is really beautiful, and as we came into the large
bay we saw some humpback whales (two of them) playing around at the surface - so
naturally we went to explore and have a closer look. Turned out to be two whales
and about 10-15 accompanying dolphins. They appeared to be feeding and/or
playing around on the surface - lots of pectoral fin and tail displaying - they
seemed to spend quite a bit of time on their backs. After chasing them round the
bay for a while we headed up into the marina/yacht club and picked up a mooring
buoy. The guys here are really friendly and well organised - they brought all
the relevant officials out to the boat within 20mins of us arriving, and on a
sunday too - impressed! The showers are great, there is laundry here, and we've
just got back from a delicious and great value meal at 'Surf and Turf'. The
weather even started to break this afternoon with some sun - and the forecast
looks good for the next few days - so we're a happy bunch!
Plan is to spend
tomorrow daytime here, and then head south overnight to find a nice quiet
anchorage in amongst the islands east of Viti
Levu.
