We seem to have lost
the sun again - not really seen it since Tahiti. The wind has been pretty strong
too - registered up to 38 kts at one point when we were getting the main down.
Lukily it has mostly been behind us, and has now eased and is round onto the
beam. There are a few patches of blue sky, so maybe we'll see some more of the
sun today. We've been taking it pretty easy, mostly with just the #4 jib up and
making about 6kts. We experimented with main and spinnaker yesterday, but the
wind seems to know when we're making sail changes and did not approve - adding
10kts in the space of a few minutes to encourage us to change our minds - it
worked!
We're just
approaching the Oneata passage which takes us through the Lau Group at the
eastern end of Fiji, and have just over another days sail or so to Savusavu
where we intend to check in (wind allowing - the forecast looks like 4.4kts from
behind by about this time tomorrow - not super useful!).
Happy Birthday
Mum!
