We've made it
through the first three locks, and are now significantly above sea level
floating in fresh water in the Gatun lake.
All went smoothly.
The weather was better than the last few days, but still overcast with some
rain. 25kts in Cristobal harbour, but luckily this died down as we approached
the locks.
Feels strange
but great to be on the move again.
We've been for a
quick dip - despite the crocodile stories, and are planning for more of a swim
tomorrow before we set off again early in the morning.
It's about 25miles
across the lake and through the narrow part of the canal, before we get to the
locks down into the pacific, so all being well we'll be heading through the
locks around lunchtime local time (about 6-7pm
GMT).
