One hundred miles closer to Horta and all is well on board. One excellent meal follows another, the wind and waves are as predicted, temperature and humidity have fallen to a more comfortable level and we seem to be well settled into the watch-keeping routine.

Yael has been busy putting messages into small bottles and casting them adrift. Some of these notes are from her students.

This morning we noticed some serious chafe damage on the sheet controlling the self-tacking jib. We effected a repair by shortening the line and it seems to be holding up. Today's other highlight was the appearance of a lone seagull four hundred miles from the nearest land.
