We left Georgetown, Bahamas early on Feb 5 armed with a weather forecast and passage plan for Puerto Rico. The idea is to head north and east out into the Atlantic until around 68 W latitude before tacking south to bring us into the trade winds. The first day passed easily but progress is slow; a strong swell off the ocean is keeping our speed down to around 5 knots at best. Intermittent squalls which quickly double the prevailing wind speed keep us on our toes reducing and changing sails, but at least the boat is washed clean.
