Another beautiful island and another great day ashore. We took a ferry
from Bequia to Kingstown, the capital of St Vincent. There were seven of
us - Phil and Danielle from SWEET SURRENDER, Liat and Assaf from JINJA and
Matt, and Englishman who crossed the Atlantic single-handed on a yacht
called SAFE ARRIVAL. (The name is a play on words - his yacht is a RIVAL).
And your bloggers.

As soon as the ferry docked we were on a bus out of Kingstown and headed
into the mountains to hike a trail in the rain forest near a village
called Vermont. The trail passes through old plantations before getting
into natural rain forest. The highlight is a viewing platform with a
chance to see the St Vincent Parrot; and endangered species and the
island's national symbol. We heard a few but saw none until the second
part of the day which was spent in Kingstown's botanical garden.

The gardens were established in 1793 and feature a descendant of the
original breadfruit tree collected from Tahiti by Captain Bligh of Mutiny
on the Bounty notoriety. We had a very energetic and informative tour
conducted by Anthony, a local rastafarian. We took his recommendation and
had a vegetarian lunch at a rastafarian chow hall in the back streets of
Kingstown. Delicious!
