A busy day at sea.

Yes indeed. Readers not familiar with the operation of sailing yachts might assume that an ocean passage is a week or two of taking it easy. Nothing could be further from the truth. I'm writing this just as the sun begins to set because it's the first opportunity I've had to sit down at the computer since before dawn. None of the others has had time to open a book. So what keeps us so occupied?

Here's a brief list, in no particular order, of tasks I can recall from Friday Dec 31st
Changing sail rig - twice
Rigging check
Drying wet weather gear after a rainy night
Washing dishes -  twice
Baking bread
Serving breakfast, a snack and dinner
Final attempt to get the freezer working - it failed.
Generator check
Watches and steering - during daylight hours we steer by hand in turns of one hour each
Cleaning non-functioning freezer
Monitoring cruiser net on short wave
Laundry
Fishing
Showering
Running desalination unit
Checking weather forecast
Navigation check and correction
Writing in log book

Happy new year!
