One and a half days of intense labor and we have a new fridge-freezer. As I write this I can see the temperature display show a steadily dropping value in farenheit. All we need to do now is figure out how to reprogram that to centigrade, stock it with food and drink and we'll be happy. I hope it will be years and years before I have to undertake a task this complex. Plumbing, carpentry, electronics, and the brute force required to drill through stainless steel added together equals one major boat project.

But first a few words of thanks. We'd like to than Cleave & Nathan Horton at Horton Marine Services who pre-built the system and shipped it down to us in good time. On top of that it looks like a much more modern and energy efficient set of components than what we previously had. And special thanks are due to Miles & Ann Poor of Marine Refit Professionals in Nanny Cay, Tortola who guided us through the installation process, gave generously of their time, loaned tools and gave advice.

Unfortunately while we were struggling in the engine space to make al the connections for the new freezer compressor I noticed a salty deposit under the generator housing which looked as if it might have been caused by a sea water leak. We fired up the generator and sure enough the pump which pushed sea water through the cooling system was gushing like Niagara Falls, so now we're waiting for the mechanic! We haven't yet given up hope of being in St Maarten on Friday afternoon to meet Yael Eisner who is joining us there for the passage to the Azores. More on this tomorrow
