Got the grand tour of the winning Velux 5 Oceans race yacht Le Pingouin.
Brad Van Liew, an American sailor who participated in this race three times,
won the last one.
8 months solo sailing with a stop on each continent.

He finished the race in the summer and now, like after every climax, wondering what's next.
The yacht is very basic inside. No heads or refrigerator, one bunk  and very little room.
On the other hand, all the materials are first rate, carbon fiber and titanium. Lots of sails that take most of the space.
The food he ate was only dehydrated food, the kind of food you pore boiling water on and have a full meal.
Could not but think of my good friend Danny Schaffer who wanted to do the Vandee Globe in 2012.
Talking to Brad about the most difficult moments, I was surprised to hear that it was not the lack of sleep, not being alone in the dark violent southern ocean, but the moment he said goodbye to his kids, getting into the solo mood.

So now the boat is for sale. Meanwhile chartering it for some races down in the Caribbean.
Brad is  thinking on the next boat, next solo race and next adventure.
What a life!
