Ahoy Sailors and Land Ahoy finally!!!
On the 3rd December early morning (like 3 am) we finally saw land; it took
us another 4 hours to get to it but we have now landed in the famous BVI.
I can just imagine now what all those years ago the crew of Christopher
Columbus or Amerigo Vespucci felt after spending so much time at sea and finally
seeing land. It is now clear to me that we are land creatures, the feeling of
warmth and belonging that land provides us is only surpassed by its beauty once
you discover it again (see pictures).
Anyway after just over 3000 nautical miles we are, at least i am, looking
forward to a nice night in a hotel where the toilette doesn’t move (specially
when you are in hurry) and where the food doesn’t not roll off your plate as
soon as you are not looking!!!
At this point in the journey i would like to say thank you to all those
that have supported me through this venture; obviously the crew of Stardust and
all of you my friends and family who have been i am sure reading this blog
thinking “we knew he was a crazy we just didn’t how crazy he was!!!”.
A special thanks to our friend The Doctor (thanks Chris) for all your help
and medical advice for this journey and all those who have had to cook for my
wife and kids during my absence: just a couple more weeks please!!
Lastly a great big thanks to my wife and kids who have given me so much
support when it really counted: I love you very much and can’t wait to see you
all.
Now that's out of the way lets go back to the journey... To round this
particular blog up lets see what the Atlantic has offered us during this
crossing; we saw:
Countless Flying Fish
Over 100 Dolphins
More than 50 Shooting Stars (stopped counting after that)
4 Whales
3 Sharks
2 Ship (only!!!)
and since its Xmas: A partridge in a pear tree!!!
The only left for me to say is enjoy the photos and tuning in a few more
days when we start the BVI to Florida leg (another 1500nm great !!!!)
Till next time
Captain Ben signing off Rrrrrr!
