Ahoy Sailors!
The Nhobbits are back for what is the final leg from the Turks to the USA; we could title this part “The Nhobbits go to America” another book/movie title.
Anyway left the Turks Saturday lunch time and planning to arrive in 4 to 5 days so this blog entry might well be the penultimate entry but only the future will tell.
So let me tell you more about paradise (Turks and Caicos), if you have been then you probably need to go again and if you have never been when definitely need to go.
As you probably have seen from the photos its paradise or haven on earth (see more photos), the people are nice and friendly and the atmosphere is one of relaxation and no stress.
The actual place we stayed in is called Blue Haven Marina and is in the Providence part of the islands; its a great new marina with all the facilities including hotel, restaurants, shops, massage etc...
This concept of haven is interesting as i started thinking of my young days when parents and priest alike tried to explain to me the idea of haven and hell. Not an easy concept to get your head round as an adult let alone a child, but like many of you i tried to understand and i finally settled on the concept that bad people will go to hell and good people will go to haven. These past few days have somewhat changed my views on this and now i can see why not everyone can go to haven; its am afraid to tell you nothing to do with bad or good at all the only reason why not everyone can go to haven is: ITS BLOODY EXPENSIVE!!
Joke aside and after discussing the issue with local people i am reliably informed that not all that leave in these islands see them as paradise or haven but in some cases the opposite as they are unable to enjoy them (lack of money/job) but furthermore they cannot escape them either (same reason).
Interesting that what someone can consider haven can be hell for someone else?!!
Back to our journey so far so good we making good progress the wind is helping and not too many rain clouds. We currently have an issue with our batteries which are boiling so we need to take it easy i guess after a long voyage it is inevitable and they will probably need to be replaced when we get to Florida like most of body parts.
One last comment before i sign off; one of the local was asking me what was our journey plan between the Turks and Florida i replied: Get there fast so we can then take it slow!
I suggest you follow this advise whenever you can i know i will, next time i will fly to Florida.
Till next time
Captain Ben signing off Rrrrrr!
