Ahoy Sailors
The Nhobbits return!!!
What a few days again; i am starting not to like the little emails from our weather man. After updating the blog last time an email popped up from our weather guy with some details of wind and course to steer as usual and again at the end it had a warning about a potential cold front again but this time coming from the USA.
Well what they say about the USA “always bigger and better” also works when it come to cold front!!!
It was at night, as it always is, my watch had just started when i started to feel a change in the air; it was getting noticeably colder and colder until the temperature dropped by over 10 deg and then it started!!!
Rain at first then very heavy rain then the wind started to increase until it got over force 8 we franticly tried to bring in all sails and the sea state got gradually worse until the only thing we could sea was walls of water all around us some of them as high as half way up the mast!!!!
This lasted all night and the next day; when it finally calm down we realised that the sails have sustained some minor damage but nothing that can be fixed thank god.
We have now regained normal weather some wind but nothing above 5 and a moderate to slight sea state; we had to further south to avoid the full force of the front so we are now slowly trying to regain some mileage but its looking like either Monday or Tuesday before we will get to the BVI unless we get stronger wind in the next few days.
As always we are all ok but could do with a nice long hot shower and a bed that doesn’t move every 2 minutes.
Till next time
Captain Ben signing off
