Ahoy Sailors!
The Nhobbits (see previous post) are back!!! These past 3 days have been
and still are very challenging for our little Nhobbits. I have only 3 words :
Respect, Respect, Respect! sorry one word repeated 3 time; respect for the
sea/ocean as mother nature showed us a glimpse of her power.
It all started with a simple email from Simon our weather man on land
letting us know that we will be getting some good trade wind at last but before
that we face a cold front coming from?.... the UK where else could a cold front
come from.
It didn’t sound all that scary on the email until we saw a couple of days
ago nasty (or should i say English) looking clouds coming our way. Within
minutes what was a confortable sea with force winds between 3 and 5 max turned
into very rough sea with force winds of 7/8 and above!!!
It is hard to explain what it feels like but i will try using a simple
analogy: Everyone is familiar with the poor rabbit crossing the road and
suddenly having the lights of a ferocious speeding car hit its eyes making the
poor rabbit unable to run or hide until the inevitable happens and it get hit by
the car.
Well its just like that except that unlike most rabbits we did manage to
get to the other side with only a minor issue our wind generator regulator did
not like the load and exploded again!.
So a day and half after this great gift from the UK we still have strong
winds and moderate seas but its calming down and i am told within a day or two
all will be back to what it should be; this is very good news as our little
Nobbits bodies cannot take much more. The good news is that this has allowed us
to make great progress towards the BVI and we are now nearly half way with
expected arrival in around 10 days time.
A part from that we are all ok and the flying fish are still the dominant
spices in these part of the ocean it seems (see picture).
Before i sign off i would like to thank my daughter Safiya for the music
she loaded on my ipod as i have managed to finally get it to work and can now
listen to music during my long night watches; and also say good luck to James
(my son) for his car test.
Until next time
